Hello, I’m Anna May

I’m a Louisville-based photographer and visual storyteller. Long before I ever thought of photography as a profession, I was documenting life as it unfolded during family gatherings, quiet moments, the in-between memories that often matter most.

Creativity has always been woven into my life. I grew up imagining what it meant to build something of your own, to show up consistently, and to care deeply about the people you serve. What stayed with me most wasn’t technical perfection, but the belief that the best images come from genuine connection and emotion.

As I grew older, I became increasingly drawn to people and fascinated by their expressions, their body language, the unspoken stories that live just beneath the surface. I found myself loving how emotion shows up visually: the way someone’s shoulders soften when they feel safe, the way laughter changes a room, the quiet confidence that emerges when someone feels truly seen.

Photography became the place where those interests came together. What began as practice and curiosity evolved into a deep love for capturing images that feel honest, warm, and human. Over time, my work expanded across portraiture, lifestyle, families, and brand storytelling, but always grounded in the same goal: to create images that feel real.

Today, my approach is simple and intentional. I focus on creating a calm, comfortable experience so people can be themselves in front of the camera. I’m less interested in stiff poses and more drawn to natural movement, connection, and moments that feel lived-in rather than staged.

When you choose Anna May Photography, my hope is to give you more than beautiful photos. I want you to walk away with images that feel like you—images that hold meaning, spark memory, and make you feel something every time you look at them.

Together, we create imagery that tells a story worth remembering.
